The Congress takes place at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia, Mexico City.

 

The history of the Instituto Nacional de Cancerología goes back to the early twentieth century, in a modest clinic called “Dr. Ulises Valdez”, located in No. 131 of the Chopo street. On  november 25th ,1946,  the Institute Nacional de Cancerología  was created by Presidential decree  of  Manuel Avila Camacho, becoming and including External advisory services, laboratory, X-rays and Pathology, among others. 

 In 1963, Dr. Enrique Barajas Vallejo was named Director and, in that year the Institute is transferred to the Oncology Pavilion of  the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social in the street of Niños Héroes No. 151. 

 In 1980 the Instituto Nacional de Cancerología moved its facilities to which at the moment it occupies in Av. San Fernando No 22, Tlalpan. Since that time, the rising areas of Clinical Basic Investigation received an increasing importance, and the institute was placed between the best oncological units around the country since by then it counted on: radiotherapy with cobalt unit, linear accelerator, computerized axial tomography, nuclear medicine and clinical laboratory, among other services.  Nowadays, the Institute has international recognition by its participation with Institutions like the American Cancer Society (ASCO), the International Union Against Cáncer (UICC), the MD Anderson Cancer Center and the National Cancer Institute of the National Health Institutes in the US, as well as many other recognized Institutions around the world.
